We are looking for a Senior Data Officer – Operational Execution, who will lead and manage all organization-wide data governance activities. You will have responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets. Your position will focus on ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework for data policies, standards and practices, both at the department and Business and Functional areas level, to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs.

In your role as Data Officer you will serve as a point of escalation for governance, data quality and protection issues. You will work closely with Domain specific Data Officers, Business and Functional leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the organisation.

You will report to the Chief Data Officer and have 4 direct reports. This role can be based in Amsterdam or London.

Your Responsibilities

  • Establish & manage domain specific data governance implementation roadmap including for strategic priorities

  • Roll out data governance framework, with a focus on data quality, accessibility and data compliance through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, processes, related tools and data architecture

  • Serve as a liaison between Business and Functional areas and technology to ensure that data related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning

  • Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners, etc.

  • Facilitate the update and implementation of data quality, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the organization. Ensure clear accountability and stewardship of the company’s key data assets

  • Define KPIs and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements

  • Resolve issues escalated from Business and Functional areas

  • In conjunction with IT, provide progress reports to management and oversee periodic updates to the implementation roadmap

  • Coordinate external data sources to eliminate redundancy and streamline the expense related to those services

What you should bring

  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, MIS, Information Management or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a major services organization, with large-scale data or project management and oversight experience.

  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices

  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of information assets and approaches related to data protection

  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues

  • Demonstrated skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement. Willingness to take charge and provide direction and lead change

  • Knowledge of data architecture and technology solutions

  • Ability to manage senior relationships across all the Business and Functional areas

  • Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals. Demonstrated ability of managing in challenging situations & conflict resolution

  • Recognized subject matter expert that influences the way things are done
