J&J Family of Companies Manager Therapeutic Area Communication Benelux/EMEA in Breda, Netherlands

Develop and implement Product & Therapy Area Communications of priority products for Janssen Benelux; align TA communication plans with the business objectives as well as the EMEA and global communications strategies, with the goal to position Janssen as the transformational medical innovator in our Disease Area Strongholds, in particular in Oncology, Hematology and Immunology.

  • Stimulate two-way exchange between the Benelux OpCo and the EMEA Communications teams to optimize the implementation of the plans by providing insights in the needs and expectations from both perspectives. Share local best practices of the implementation of the EMEA TA Communication projects with OpCo’s as well as EMEA to facilitate the uptake in the full EMEA region.

RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL DUTIES (Essential Functions)

TA Communications

  • Lead Product & Therapy Area communications activity (proactive and reactive) within the Benelux Janssen Communications & Public Affairs team and provide strategic counsel and partnership to the cross-functional value teams (CVT’s).

  • Drive Janssen’s Benelux business by anticipating and reacting to product issues affecting the business and by identifying areas to demonstrate the value of priority products through public relations activity around launches, real world evidence and stakeholder partnerships.

  • Develop messages and content that are compelling and relevant and translate messages across multiple channels and platforms.

  • Liaise closely with Communications & Public Affairs colleagues in the Benelux, Patient Access and Governmental affairs (especially the ”Patient Access Champions” per TA), Patient Engagement and Advocacy, as well as with the communications teams in R&D and EMEA to ensure alignment with corporate, public affairs and internal engagement strategies and to partner on projects where required.

  • Integrate both internal & external communications to a broad range of relevant stakeholders, using multiple and innovative communication channels.

  • Support the EMEA TA organization in the roll-out of TA Communication programs in the Operating Companies.

Continuously assess the needs and expectations of the EMEA strategic TA organization, Operating Companies and ensure TA Communication programs drive expected business outcomes with positive reputational impact.

Build and maintain stakeholder trust & advocacy

  • Network and build trusted relationships with key opinion leading and special interest media, as well as social media, regarding the TA’s. Develop and implement media relations plans in alignment with the business and TA needs, schedules and guidelines.

  • Proactively identify potential brand issues and develop issues-management strategies and processes.

  • Ensure excellence in management of product issues and other situations that may impact stakeholder trust and company reputation. Work closely with regional TA team to appropriately manage issues.

  • Organize the flow of internal/external information during times of crisis in close coordination with the local Leadership Team and the crisis leader.

  • Partner closely with EMEA Janssen Communication, Media Relations, Corporate Communications, Workforce Communication, PMO and other CoEs to ensure Enterprise alignment.

  • Create internal (EMEA) networks of product/TA CVTL’s and OpCo product communication teams to foster local uptake of and engagement in EMEA or global com’s strategies and tactics and to better understand local needs.

Collaboration and business advisor

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and counsel to senior business leaders and other key stakeholders by listening, understanding, and providing credible expertise, relevant insight, and transparent feedback.

  • Closely collaborate with other business functions; budget planning, monitoring and control.

  • Drive business outcomes by bringing a measurement approach to communication practices, and provide insights that drive confidence, integration and alignment within the OpCo, and with the EMEA TA communication team and global network.

Build a high-performing, continuously improving GCPA function

  • Participate with a One Team mindset to unify, collaborate and drive for best outcomes; collaborate across EMEA TA teams; facilitate sharing of best practices, common processes and procedures and consistency among all GCPA colleagues in the countries.

  • Collaborate and actively contribute in in international dedicated teams on behalf of the Benelux team.

Qualifications

  • Education and/or additional training: Master´s Degree required

  • At least 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical brand/product and therapy area/franchise communications, either in-house or within an agency/consultancy

  • Expertise in core healthcare communications disciplines

  • High level of understanding of local legal and HCBI regulations and J&J Health Care Compliance

  • Strong technical competencies relevant to Brand/Product Communications, including issues management and proactive, compliant product communications

  • Ability to translate complex scientific data into communications materials

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience and knowledge of a range of therapy areas

  • Knowledge of new models of communication including digital and social media

  • Flexibility and agility in managing proactive and reactive workloads

  • Strong influencing and networking skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Experience in benchmarking results and setting appropriate evaluation metrics

  • Experience in agency and budget management

  • Experience working collaboratively in a matrix and/or global organization

  • Results-driven with a focus on delivery to tight timelines

  • Fluency in English
