The Advanced Development Engineering team provides the technology research and new product platforms for TE Connectivity’s Industrial business. The group focuses on generating new product ideas in the electrical, mechanical and Industrial IoT connectivity & sensing-to-the-cloud space, proving these concepts through system design and prototyping, and transferring these prototypes and platforms to the product engineering teams for bringing to market. The group is a global multi-disciplinary team covering electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering and project management and is looking for an embedded system engineer in the field of system development and integration for wireless, contactless and wired Industrial IoT connectivity solutions for harsh environments.

The candidate must be an energetic, self-starter with a passionate interest in engineering and design for state of the art electronics. The individual must demonstrate effective cooperation with a global multi-disciplinary team and deliver custom designs and solutions for a variety of smart connectivity needs in a rapid research and development environment.


  • See system design through all phases from conception, design and proof-of-concept including use case definitions, requirements generation, system architecture definition, electronics and FPGA design and implementation, prototype builds, firmware testing and commercialization of solutions in the field of wireless, contactless and wired high bandwidth and real-time connectivity for harsh environments such as industrial robotics.

  • Technology components to be integrated for the “IoT connectivity” solutions are a wireless transceivers (e.g. discrete RF or integrated RF transceiver such as SDR) and baseband processing algorithms (typically to be mapped into an FPGA) and an Ethernet physical layer IC.

  • Validate system performance in order to prove the technical design through analysis, simulation, laboratory testing and field testing inside the TE Smarter Factory. Generate complete system documentation and provides input to technical proposals in order to effectively communicate the design and/or approach to internal and external customers

  • Develop and ensure proper procedures and methods are used by other members of the design team by providing a value added quality review.

  • Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship for less experienced design engineers in order to increase our design expertise base within the company with an emphasis on performance, design re-use, and generating intellectual property

  • Effectively work with team members of other disciplines

  • Provide budget, schedule, and technical compliance updates to management in order to effectively record progress of technical aspects of the program assigned

  • Ensure successful transition to full scale production in cooperation with the business line

  • Track research in the field of wireless connectivity, including standards and consortia and map these into technology roadmaps and turning these into new opportunities addressing unmet market needs.

Experience Required:

  • Master Degree in Electrical Engineering or at least equivalent

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in designing systems that include FPGA/CPLD technologies, RF transceivers, MCU and analog circuitry.

  • Experience in Model-Based Design using packages like Matlab and Simulink.

  • Experience in baseband processing algorithms for wireless solutions and prototyping these into FPGA.

  • Experience with design of electronics using packages like Altium Designer or similar.

  • Experience with wireless and wired communication protocol implementations in hardware and firmware for the industrial automation domain.

  • Proven hands-on design skills in a product development environment.

  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging embedded systems in a lab environment using equipment such as signal analyzers & signal generators.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to solve problems, multi-task and be a hands-on leader.

  • Passionate about finding and applying new technologies and designing these into prototypes.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Experience with millimeter wave transceivers is a pre.

  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team in an international environment is a pre.
