The candidate must be an energetic, self-starter with a passionate interest in engineering and design for state of the art firmware and electronics. The individual must demonstrate effective cooperation with a global multi-disciplinary team and deliver custom designs and solutions for a variety of smart connectivity needs in a rapid research and development environment.
See system design through all phases from conception through engineering sampling including use case definitions, requirements generation, system architecture definition, firmware design and implementation, prototype builds, firmware testing and commercialization.
Technology components to be integrated for the “sensor-to-cloud solutions” are a wireless transceiver (e.g. mmWave, UWB, NB-IoT & 5G), sensors and sensor pre-processing/data analytics unit (typically a microcontroller running the firmware) and power management including energy harvesting and storage. The full data analytics may also run on a connected server providing value adding services, such as predictive maintenance.
Technology components to be integrated for the “IoT connectivity solutions” are wireless transceivers, PHY management firmware and baseband processing (FPGA) and deliver state-of-the-art high bandwidth low latency wireless, contactless and wired connectivity solutions for harsh environments.
Validate system performance in order to prove the technical design through analysis, simulation, laboratory testing and field testing inside the TE Smarter Factory. Generate complete system documentation and provides input to technical proposals in order to effectively communicate the design and/or approach to internal and external customers
Develop and ensure proper procedures and methods are used by other members of the design team by providing a value added quality review
Provide guidance, direction, and mentorship for less experienced design engineers in order to increase our design expertise base within the company with an emphasis on performance, design re-use, and generating intellectual property
Effectively work with team members of other disciplines
Provide budget, schedule, and technical compliance updates to management in order to effectively record progress of technical aspects of the program assigned
Ensure successful transition to full scale production in cooperation with the business line
Track research in the field of wireless connectivity, sensors and energy harvesting, including standards and consortia and map these into technology roadmaps
Master Degree in Electrical Engineering or at least equivalent
Minimum of 3-5 years of embedded software design experience
Experience in programming languages such as C and embedded Operating Systems
Experience with board level design of electronics.
Experience with wireless and wired communication protocol implementations in hardware and firmware, preferably for the industrial automation domain.
Proven hands-on design skills in a product development environment.
Experience troubleshooting and debugging embedded systems in a lab environment using equipment such as signal analyzers and generators and software debugger.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to solve problems, multi-task and be a hands-on leader.
Passionate about finding and applying new technologies and designing these into prototypes.
Fluent in English.
Experience with M2M communication protocols like MQTT, OPC UA etc. is a pre.
Experience with data analytics algorithms is a pre.
Experience with millimeter wave transceivers is a pre.
Experience with energy efficient wireless designs is a pre.
Experience in board level designs that include analog circuits, RF front-end, MCU, FPGA/CPLD technologies and high speed designs is a pre.
Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team in an international environment is a pre.
