The Application Software Group (ASG)

As part of the R&D organization, ASG is committed to bring value-adding and game changing software solutions to our customers that help them with their success. ASG is a multi-site development organization divided over the R&D sites in Eindhoven (the Netherlands), Bordeaux (France), Hillsboro (US), Brno (Czech). The ASG organization in Eindhoven consists of around 30 software engineers. This team is responsible for the development of automation/application software for Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEM). This software offers solutions to our life sciences, material sciences and semiconductors customers, by providing dedicated workflows. Examples are automated tomography or single particle acquisition and our dedicated semiconductors solution for e.g. automated metrology/measurements on the nanometer scale.

Position

We have multiple internship opportunities within the Application Software teams in Eindhoven.

Topics

The assignments we have open relate to the following topics.

  • Model-based engineering (verification, code generation)

  • Software rejuvenation

  • Test automation and improvements

  • Simulation

  • Supporting tooling, e.g. diagnostics

  • Data analysis

  • Algorithms

  • User interaction

Assignments will be defined based on the expertise and interest of the student.

What we seek:

  • Students or graduate students

  • BSc or MSc students related to SW engineering, like Computer Science or Informatics, who need work on an assignment or topic for 6-9 months.

  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Design and/or State Modeling, with the following languages C/C++ or C#, Visual Studio, Windows 7.

  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills are required due to the high degree of interaction and collaboration (multi-site)

  • A team player within a dynamic environment

  • Strong analytical view combined with a pragmatic and hands-on attitude (flexibility)

  • Proactively and self-responsibility

  • Curious, fast learning
