• Ensures that optimized TCO (cost, quality, availability) are assured in product and business creation and through their full life cycle, utilizing DFX.

• PE drives the sourcing plan, leading supplier selection and ensuring adherence to the Business Procurement strategy

• Drives early supplier involvement and identifies cost drivers to influence design decision making and achieve target costing.

• Collaborate with Supplier Quality in the new supplier/component release process, including compliance and sustainability aspects

• Support price negotiations with opportunities to drive short and long term cost reduction improvement

Our new Procurement Engineering Senior Manager is energetic, highly tenacious and self-motivated with a disciplined mindset. You will interact with multiple levels within the organization from middle to very senior management staff. Therefore you need to be adaptable in understanding the needs of different stakeholders, be ‘street smart’ and persuasive about developing procurement capabilities both in terms of personal development and as a critical business lever.

Procurement Engineering Innovation & Emerging Businesses represents Procurement in multiple businesses which are all positioned to bring breakthrough new product and business creations from idea to market.

Your responsibilities

You are tasked with building and implementing the procurement capability in Philips HealthWorks and the Business Group Emerging Businesses.

Philips HealthWorks (PHW) is a new business with the mission to de-risk and accelerate breakthrough innovation for integration into Philips Businesses. It does that through partnering with Philips Businesses and HealthSpaces to drive innovative solutions & business models and forming internal ventures. PHW is tasked to assess, learn, test, grow and scale radical innovation in the healthcare continuum from the early science to large scale operations. You work directly with PHW management and in close collaboration with the key functions to build the procurement platform from the ground up and drive execution within the ventures.

The Business Group Emerging Businesses (BG EB) addresses unsolved problems in medicine and is positioned in the heart of the Philips health continuum; in Definitive Diagnoses and Guided Therapy. This BG builds on 4 key pillars: computational pathology, computational neurology, point-of-care diagnostics and photo dermatology. The common objective of these businesses is to successfully commercialize game changing innovations through adoption in routine clinical practices, via a steep growth path. You work directly with the existing procurement team, the EB management and the key functions to further develop a robust procurement frame, a sustained supplier performance and product cost competitiveness.

Key responsibilities

  • Represent Procurement and be the trusted business partner who co-leads to overall business success

  • Develop and implement the comprehensive Procurement framework and strategy

  • Own and deliver the procurement needs in the ventures / emerging business

  • Lead the sourcing plan through the development phases

  • Drive early supplier involvement and supplier selection

  • Lead design for excellence (DfX) activities and influence value chain and design decision taking

  • Orchestrate and drive utilization of essential procurement levers

  • Secures compliancy with regulatory requirements and company standards

We are looking for

Our new Procurement Engineering Senior Manager needs to demonstrate strong and proven leadership, communication and networking skills. He/she should have the ability to deploy procurement effectively and to get stakeholders to embed this into standard ways of work.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline extended with MBA

  • Procurement engineering professional with proven track in complex and competitive environments

  • Business savvy and skilled in value chain modeling

  • Thorough understanding of how to influence and drive value up and cost down

  • You have a high interest and are competent with advanced technologies and supply base dynamics

  • Knowledge to manage interactions between business disciplines

  • Strong leadership skills to drive performance, change and challenge the organization

  • Experience with medical device quality management and regulation is considered a plus

  • Proven experience in supporting starting new business initiatives (ventures, startups) is a plus
