Operates and maintains facilities equipment including, but not limited to, building controls, fire protection systems and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment. Plans, coordinates, inspects, and performs maintenance and supports project management for facility related projects, including but not limited to, building remodeling and construction, equipment installation and/or placement, safety and environmental compliance, mechanical systems maintenance, and energy conservation.

Performs a wide variety of complex duties to troubleshoot, maintain and repair all company manufacturing machinery and failure prevention.

Principaldutiesandresponsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and monitor utilities and facilities equipment, critical alarms, systems and instruments to ensure compliance with the established parameters.

  • Take readings of equipment and systems, verify and interpret parameters to ensure compliance and take appropriate action if they are out of bounds or specifications.

  • Monitor the performance of the equipment / systems / instruments and immediately report any abnormality or deviation and take appropriate actions and document all alarms.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and assist others in the repair of equipment and / or related systems.

  • Coordinate with other employees in the area for assistance in the installation and repair of equipment and / or systems.

  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings for repairs and/or assist in the modifications of equipment / systems.

  • Handle chemicals properly considering the availability of MSDSs and related procedures and using the required protective equipment.

  • Document and review the work performed in accordance with the procedures of the Company and applicable regulations.

  • Provide input and assist in the review / development of standard operating procedures.

  • Observe all policies, procedures, programs, systems, rules, and regulations according to all areas including, but not limited to Occupational, Environmental, Quality, Records Management, Human Resources, Security, and other Security; and encourage their colleagues to do the same.

  • Report any deviation to area Supervisor.

  • Follow the appropriate procedures as set out in the management or disposal of chemicals and hazardous waste guidelines.

  • Participate in projects, programs, committees and special activities that promote the company to establish its strategic goals.

  • Attend trainings and education programs applicable and immediately notify supervisor if there are tasks and / or responsibilities which have not been properly trained.

  • Undertake assignments / special projects, as required.

  • Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor as needed.

  • Coordinate with other groups and / or contractors, as needed.

  • Assist other staff in the area as needed.

Qualifications

Education, experience & certifications

  • Associate Degree in Industrial, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical Electronics or related field. It requires a minimum of three (3) years of experience in related equipment and utility systems working in the Pharmaceutical industry.

  • Professional certifications as required by regulation (i.e., professional electrician).

Knowledge, skills and abilities required

  • Strong technical skills in pharmaceutical equipment and facilities engineering.

  • Proficient in reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Demonstrate skills of root cause analysis.

  • Demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Automation proficiency (depending on functional area)

  • Good knowledge in compliance with Occupational Safety, Environment and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s).

  • Basic knowledge in aseptic techniques.

  • Good documentation and verbal communication skills.

  • Basic knowledge in the use of computer systems preferable.

  • Availability to work rotating shifts, overtime, on holidays, and weekends.
