Brief description of tasks The Global Technology Centers in Amsterdam are the leading R&D-departments within the SBU Protective & Marine Coatings for developing Anti Foulings, Tank Linings and Cellulosic Passive Fire Protection. The Global technology Center in Amsterdam employs 20 technicians and chemists responsible for the development and maintenance of coatings for Marine, Tank Linings and Cellulosic Passive Fire Protection.
The PMC laboratory has several positions for coating chemists whose main responsibility it is to develop new coating formulations. Gaining chemical knowledge about the new technologies for the development of new and innovative products is an important aspect of the job. Keeping up with technological innovations, liaising with other internal stakeholders (marketing, supply, purchasing) by reading literature and patents, discussions with suppliers and attending conferences are other parts of the daily work.
Master degree in chemistry or formulation technology, and preferably 2 years of relevant work experiences;
Understanding of coating literature and patents;
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts;
Business fluency in English and at least one other European language;
Ability to work without close supervision, keeping focused on short and long-term objectives;
An innovative way of thinking combined with a can-do attitude;
Result oriented with a customer orientation;
Good knowledge of standard office software packages; Affinity with working in an international setting.
Our offer: Besides working for a major international organisation with many development opportunities, we offer you a salary at market rates, 8% holiday allowance, a 13thmonth's salary and you will automatically will be included in our pension scheme. You will be eligible for an annual performance-related salary increase and/or bonus. For full-time employment you will also be entitled to 25 days' holiday and 11.5 days (part-time on a pro rata basis).
