The team

The position we have a vacancy for is within the Wind Resource Assessment Team. This team is part of the Business Area ‘Energy Systems and Markets’. The Wind Resource Assessment team works internationally on sustainable wind energy projects, both on- and offshore. Our wind energy experts advise project developers, utilities, government organisations, financial institutions in the areas of feasibility, development, design, engineering, project management, economic analysis and due diligence for wind projects.

The main focus of the team is to support these clients with bankable wind resource assessment and yield prediction reports, based on climatological and mesoscale models, and supported on-site measurements (met masts and/or LiDAR) and nearby wind farm production data. An important aspect of this work is to pinpoint and quantify the various elements that contribute to overall uncertainty of the prediction.

The vacancy

To strengthen our teams in Utrecht and London we are looking for a Consultant who will be a cornerstone for the team. You will be primarily responsible for successful delivery of projects related to wind resource assessments. Examples include carrying out wind resource assessments based on measurement data, modelling output and analysing production data or station data. Furthermore, you can be asked to coordinate wind measurement campaigns based on met masts or LiDARs. Throughout your assignments you work in teams of on average 2-5 people and will guide junior team members. You will be leading discussions and presentations with senior clients, and will actively nurture relationships with them and do acquisition. In this role, you report directly to one of the Managing Partners within Ecofys.

Your profile

  • University degree in meteorology, physics or wind/renewable energy engineering;

  • At least 8 years’ experience in (internal) consulting or project management in a professional environment related to wind energy;

  • Demonstrated excellence in project management;

  • Working experience with WindPro, WAsP and Windographer;

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, transform them into simple messages and gain the respect of clients and colleagues;

  • Self-starter with proven ability to lead teams and motivate others to deliver results within the dynamic environment of client engagement, and a desire to grow further in this respect;

  • Self-driven with the ambition to play a leading role in knowledge development;

  • Commercially oriented approach and business skills in identifying and exploiting opportunities in a competitive market, you know how to build a network and a have desire to grow further in this respect;

  • Business driven, able to prepare and defend new business proposals and key-accounts

  • Proactive and convincing personality who is a team-player, who is self-reflective and eager to learn, with an edge for coaching and development of others

  • Fluency in English is a must, Dutch or German language skills is beneficial.
