ASML Physics Design Engineer in Veldhoven, Netherlands
If you have the strength of personality to take ownership of a problem and turn it’s solution into an opportunity for both ASML and our customers, and if you can create a vision that also inspires others - then the ASML Focus Applications group is your ideal environment for personal development and professional growth.
As part of a team that develops on-product focus solutions for chipmaker’s R&D; and manufacturing facilities you will analyze performance of existing ASML products as well as participate in the realization and roll-out of new ones. With your professional knowledge and expertise your mission also is to identify new opportunities for products and methods that optimize customer’s yield and profitability. ASML’s products that optimize on-product performance are developed and integrated within our D&E; facilities but truly proof their added value in the place where it matters most: at the site of the customer. That’s why your strong customer-oriented state-of-mind and preferably proven track-record in the field of semiconductor manufacturing are important prerequisites for contributing to our success. You will need to combine creative problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking to develop these innovative on-product solutions and to tune them in a way that maximizes customer’s benefit. To achieve this you will work closely together with ASML D&E; and customer-support colleagues, and you will engage with customer’s technical staff members. You will need persistence, imagination and creativity. And you will need to be assertive and strongly result-oriented while also being a team player: that’s because customer use-cases are complex and finding out what really is important to the customer requires not only a go-getter mentality but also the skills to work together with customers from various cultural and national backgrounds as well as ASML staff from various disciplines. In addition, your communication skills will enable you to effectively explain product characteristics to customer-support colleagues and to help them with the creation of knowledge-transfers used for training and product-support. If you feature these characteristics, you can make the difference in making our products successful.
You will design, test and integrate complex on-product focus solutions within the boundaries defined by the system specifications, budgeted costs and planning. In many cases you start off with analyzing existing product performance and putting your ideas on future products or product-enhancements to the test by simulations and rapid-prototyping in a controlled but real customer environment. You will reflect on your product propositions with senior colleagues as well as customer-support staff and customer technical staff before starting the process of (final) product realization. During realization you will specify requirements and test specifications for other D&E; disciplines that participate in the process of product development. The final phase of product validation consists of taking the lead in testing and evaluating product performance in a customer environment, tuning it where needed and guiding customer-support colleagues in the process of product rollout. All of this requires leadership, teamwork skills, strong customer-orientation and an inexhaustible drive for results.
