Elsevier Health Analytics is developing high performance analytical and predictive models for improving healthcare. We now require a talented Senior Researcher to work as part of a large cross-functional (technical, design, testing, business etc.) team to improve our predictive models to the point that they can be used directly in user facing applications.
As a Senior Researcher you be responsible for leading the development of predictive and explanatory models focused on the healthcare domain based on both unstructured and structured data sources.
The successful candidate will work closely with domain experts, project manager and technical leads to meet deliverables and assist in data-driven development of world-class software products. He/she will also work with the project architect to develop to industry and company standards.
You will be responsible for creating new potential models, model improvements, and performance enhancements based on business needs.
You will be responsible for evaluating new technologies.
You will work as part of a strong, close knit team and contribute to a positive team working environment and team.
You will collaborate with researchers at leading universities, with which we partner to jointly develop innovative methods and models.
Skills and Experience:
Experience developing predictive modelling using machine learning and statistical techniques (like GLM, MLP, Deep Neural Networks, SVMS, Naïve Bayes, Decision trees, etc.)
Experience working with a variety of data sources
Working knowledge of data analysis algorithms in all major areas including clustering, association, dimensionality reduction, anomaly detection, prediction, and regression and importantly understanding the trade-offs between them
Programming experience and the ability to develop data processing scripts (e.g. Python, R)
Experience with Spark, Hadoop, or other distributed computing platforms
A background in health care, biomedicine, or bioinformatics
Natural Language Processing experience is a bonus
Visualization experience is a bonus
Open source or community experience is beneficial
