The role of the Solution Services Architect is to define and standardise services packages and to enable the field. The Service Architect will report into the EMEA SPG Solution Services Team covering professional services, services packaging and sales enablement activities. This role will own the services readiness, defining the customer acceptance criteria and ensuring sales ability to quote and sell services. The Service Architect will work in collaboration with the SPG Business Consultant to combine business requirements with experience from delivery and competitive services landscape to develop the suite of professional services for direct and indirect customers.
Defining and standardizing services packages for our core solutions
Services definition, scope of work and sales enablement documentation.
Sales field enablement activities to build services pipeline, identify and prioritize opportunities that result in higher service attach rates.
Lead the development of the professional services methodology and services delivery kits that that support the successful deployment and adoption of services.
Own the services sales enablement readiness, define the customer acceptance criteria and ensure the ability to quote and sell services by the general sales force.
Expand and enhance the SME community by addressing the services aspects.
Work with the Business Consultant and Service Delivery Engineers in the identification of requirements, development, implementation planning and service delivery methodology, documentation and processes as the foundation of services delivery practices within EMEA.
Required Skills & Experience
Degree or equivalent formal education plus complementary working experience.
IT data center infrastructure experience developed over a lengthy career, with a good technical understanding of the network, storage and compute components.
A working knowledge and understanding of most, if not all, of the following technologies is necessary – O/S (Windows/Linux/Unix), Hypervisor (VMWare/HyperV/OpenStack), Object Store, Data Integration and Data Lakes, public cloud preferably Amazon, Applications or Databases (SQLServer/Oracle/SAP HANA/Exchange/SharePoint/..)
A firm understanding of service development, including process and methodology development, development of service delivery documentation, and training personnel once the services kits are finalised.
Clear expertise on developing Cloud models, knowledge of Cloud technology like OpenStack, VMWare VRealize/vCloud and Microsoft Azure or Amazon EC2/EBS is necessary.
Knowledge on IoT business solutions and working together with other Hitachi groups in developing solutions in this area.
Hands-on experience of at least some of the following technologies are necessary – Hadoop and Analytics software and technology, Business Intelligence (BI), Transform and Load tools (ETL), both Structured and Unstructured datasources e.g. Casandra, Vertica
An history of services development and/or developing a service delivery center of excellence
Understanding of the Services landscape from an direct, indirect and competition (sell direct, sell with and sell through) point of view.
Possesses the ability to facilitate, as well as take a leadership role in workshop discussions.
Ability to relate to and communicate at all levels with technologists, management and executive leadership.
Provide input to Product Development to extend / customise solutions to meet customer integration and functionality needs that derive value from underlying HDS converged infrastructure platforms.
Able to work with other departments cross-functionally to deliver cloud solutions and support the enablement of go-to-market activities where cloud services delivery is critical to success.
Ultimately this role will require some level of EMEA travel, approximately 25%, although initially the travel requirement will be lower whilst the new function is established.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to quickly understand and articulate the value proposition of a solution as well as its component parts and technological benefits.
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with enterprise architects, service engineers, developers, product management and sales in order to build repeatable clearly understood services work packages.
A track record of working as a services architect building standardised services packages for rollout to the field.
Well-organized and very flexible adaptable clear thinker with the ability to work with all different levels of people within HDS and customer organisations in a multitude of different countries with different attitudes and ways of working.
Self-starter with willingness to accept responsibility and take ownership to develop packages from inception to rollout.
Confident and self-reliant, but able to work as a team member, demonstrating clear commitment to team objectives.
