Primary Job Function

The Manager Customs & Trade Compliance takes responsibility for Customs and Trade Compliance within Abbott Logistics in Zwolle, by providing proactive input on custom strategy, and by monitoring and ensuring customs and trade compliance. He or she manages a team (3 FTE), responsible for monitoring and maintaining compliance on all customs activities of the Netherlands entities in scope at their international locations and is responsible for continuous AEO compliance and security monitoring requirements.

Next to that, the Manager Customs & Trade Compliancce is responsible for enhancing the compliance awareness of all employees of Abbott in the Netherlands. For that, he or she builds and maintains a sustainable and high quality relationship across all levels and businesses in the Netherlands and across other Abbott entities and HQ

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Directs, manages, plans and administers the operational and administrative activities related to Customs and Trade Compliance.

  • Manages Junior Specialist Customs and Trade Compliance and Specialists Customs and Trade Compliance, and takes responsibility for :

  • Managing effective working relationship with customs authorities, acting as first point of contact toward customs authorities

  • Managing Customs Control Framework / AOIB / work instructions

  • Managing adequate ERP/customs software environment, see to timely maintenance/updates

  • Managing internal and external customs audits

  • Managing Bonded Warehouse administration and ensure timely and correct filing of monthly customs declaration

  • Managing Inward Processing Relief administration and file monthly customs declaration

  • Managing (non) preferential origin

  • Managing customs documents for inbound/outbound (export declarations, T1, ATR)

  • Management of classifications of (new) products

  • Management of changes and maintenance in origin

  • Managing projects related to Customs and Trade Compliance.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor/University degree in business economics, accountancy, logistics/transportation or other related field

Minimum Experience/Training Required:

  • Bachelor/University degree in business economics, accountancy, logistics/transportation or other related field

  • 7+ years of experience in a customs and trade compliance role in an International environment

  • Experience with AEO-monitoring

  • Experience working for an AEO-certified importer/exporter strongly preferred

  • Experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions

  • Solid ERP skills/accomplished ERP user

  • Speaks and writes English and Dutch fluently

  • Can cope with the different cultures within the different Abbott entities.
