Privacy Officer – Marketing Function

The Privacy Officer for Marketing is a member of the Philips Global Privacy Function which is responsible for supporting enterprise-wide privacy and data protection principles, policies and practices, and ensuring risk management and compliance specific to their functional area. The Privacy Officer is responsible for reviewing all marketing campaigns and activities across marketing teams to ensure legal compliance and conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) on marketing concepts products, services, solutions, systems and/or architecture to assure appropriate privacy and security practices. The Privacy Officer will apply knowledge of international privacy laws and regulations and act as privacy consultant to the marketing businesses throughout the lifecycle of health and wellness products, services, solutions, systems and architecture for both business partner and consumer audiences, and related marketing activities to support the lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Lead and coordinate Marketing privacy activities (such as digital, marketing communication, promotion, marketing research and/or events) in accordance with Philips Privacy Rules and Binding Corporate Rules

  • Consult and advise the business regarding impact of privacy requirements related to marketing efforts where necessary to comply with privacy and data protection laws and regulations, on a global scale

  • Conduct privacy impact assessments to help business assess and mitigate risks related to processing personal data

  • Implement/Maintain group policies, procedures, practices based on international laws, regulations and standards in the privacy and data protection within your business group

  • Create/Collaborate with other members in the Global Privacy Function on policies, procedures, and practices that align and are consistent with Philips Privacy Rules

  • Cross functionally with multi-discipline groups on privacy matters related to marketing, such as IT and/or security with regards to e-commerce or emerging marketing channels

  • Lead/Support Incident, Event and Complaint management in privacy issues

  • Work with the privacy counsels to address privacy elements within customer

  • Assist in the development and delivery of privacy training and awareness

  • Collaborate with Security Officers, privacy counsels and management on privacy issues

  • Participate in external organizations to share and collaborate on best practices

  • Conduct ongoing compliance monitoring and report on privacy metrics

General Skills:

  • General understanding of data protection and privacy regulations related to marketing concepts, including but not limited to digital advertising, cookie regulations, anti-spam laws, telesales regulations and marketing consent models

  • General understanding of multitenancy architecture, cloud environments and system architecture

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively

  • Knowledge and understanding of technology-related law

Professional Certification or Experience:

Certified International Privacy Professional Certification or equivalent preferred

Candidate profile:

Minimum 3 or more years’ experience in legal/privacy and regulatory areas

Bachelor’s degree in related marketing, technical, privacy, compliance or regulatory/legal area

Experience with marketing teams, or marketing support of B2B and/or B2C marketing initiatives

Familiarity with GDPR, FDA and FTC regulations, Dutch Data Protection Directive, HIPAA, PIPEDA, US Patriot Act, British Columbia Act 73, Breach Notification laws, ISO and other standards bodies and international standards.

Occasional travel may be required.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Minimum 6 or more years’ experience in legal/privacy and regulatory areas;

  • Bachelor’s degree in related marketing, technical, privacy, compliance or regulatory/legal area;

  • Experience with marketing teams, or marketing support of B2B and/or B2C marketing initiatives;

  • Familiarity with GDPR, FDA and FTC regulations, Dutch Data Protection Directive, HIPAA, PIPEDA, US Patriot Act, British Columbia Act 73, Breach Notification laws, ISO and other standards bodies and international standards;

  • Certified International Privacy Professional Certification or equivalent preferred;
