About you

You are a self-starter who shows initiative and is driven by business needs and results – eager to learn and understand “why” and to challenge existing ways of working. Your holistic view allows you to interpret internal and external requirements and balance the interdependencies between people and projects. You are interested in designing and driving the risk and compliance agenda and contributing to a modern and harmonized approach to compliance and audit activities within the organization.

What’s more, we believe that you have the following knowledge, capabilities and motivation:

  • Live and share the IKEA values every day

  • An active professional certification in public accounting or internal auditing is required (CPA, CIA, etc,)

  • 7+ years of operational experience with internal control and compliance in an international environment

  • Understand concepts, theories (e.g. three lines of defense), principles and practices of risk management, compliance, internal control, and internal audit as well as concepts and approaches for change management

  • Lead based on trust, interdependency and inclusiveness in the context of the IKEA culture and values

  • Balance larger and longer-term of interests of IKEA while working with different units and individual stakeholders and seeing interdependencies between people and projects

  • Consistently demonstrate a high level of integrity – speak and act according to strong moral principles

  • Maintain a holistic view that allows for an interpretation of business requirements, in combination with excellent analytical, conceptual & critical thinking capabilities

  • Strong ability to persuade, influence, and motivate stakeholders in a positive way while discerning different interests, agendas, and perspectives

  • Recognized ability to listen, speak, write, present and generally communicate in a clear, professional manner

  • Develop and apply a comprehensive and modern way of organizing risk management, compliance, and internal control activities

About the role

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, lead and deliver long-term planning for compliance and internal control activities – leading people and business together to meet the future organizational needs and ensure that compliance and internal control activities are integrated into the IKEA business.

  • Create and maintain an effective compliance and internal control framework for Inter IKEA Group that represents the Group’s steering documents and its key controls.

  • Establish an annual compliance plan together with the core businesses

  • Provide management reporting on the level of compliance and effectiveness of the Group’s key controls.

  • Develop and maintain strong (matrix) relationships and establish trust with business stakeholders.

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and external auditors to align the different compliance and internal control initiatives with identified and emerging risks.

  • Provide input to the Inter IKEA Group risk map as well as the internal audit plan based on findings and observations.

  • Provide input to the owners of steering documents based on findings, observations and/or changes in laws and legislation.

  • Provide advice upon request to ensure that appropriate internal controls are considered and designed into the ways of working and processes.

About the assignment

The assignments of Risk & Compliance for Inter IKEA Group are to:

  • Lead the IIG governance structure, including design and effectiveness of the internal risk management and control systems

  • Provide support with regards to internal control, compliance, and internal audit

  • Set the IKEA Requirement landscape for franchise compliance

This position is full-time (40 hours per week) and is located in Delft, the Netherlands, though some travel may be required.
