Key requirements of an Inside Sales Manager

The Insides Sales Manager (ISM) supports our Energy, Chemicals, and Resources (ECR) Line of Business in The Hague. The ISM develops and leads strategic sales activities and RFP responses in the pursuit of ECR engineering, procurement, and construction projects.

The ISM is a strategic pursuits leader and works within the sales team to help build relationships with key clients. The ISM works collaboratively with sales, operations and other Inside Sales staff to produce original and strategically-focused response documents, including proposals, presentations and qualification statements.

The primary responsibility of the Inside Sales Manager is to drive disciplined application of our three-phase Relationship Based Sales (RBS) Process:

(1) develop and advance client relationships prior to opportunity identification (Opening Game);

(2) strategically position us for specific opportunities (Middle Game); and

(3) develop high-quality opportunity-specific response documents with competitive and compelling sales messages to satisfy client business goals (End Game). The Inside Sales Manager positions us to win work and supports global growth of our businesses.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborates with sales and operations leadership to identify and develop strategic pursuits aligning with local and regional business plan

  • Organizes and directs pursuit teams in win strategy development prior to and after RFP issue.

  • Collaborates with a multidiscipline pursuit team to develop value propositions demonstrating Jacobs’ competitive advantage and enhancing the clients’ competitive position.

  • Develops client-focused and compliant response documents and oversees our multi-level internal sales review process.

  • Leverages the company network to identify and put forward Jacobs’ unique capabilities and resources.

  • Writes, proofreads and edits proposal narrative and manages the overall production response documents. Oversees work assigned to sales, operations and other Inside Sales staff during production.

  • Facilitates application of Jacobs’ sales process, tools and templates; mentor’s others in their application.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of relevant sales or proposal management experience in the refining or petrochemical industries

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines/budgets

  • Proactive, self-motivator

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or technical / related discipline from a college or university or relevant job experience and performance may be accepted in lieu of degree level education.

  • Strong capability in Microsoft Office suite and with proficiency in database applications. Strong communication skills.
