In this role, you have the opportunity to

participate in innovative Research projects where you will boost our innovations by developing software prototypes and software engineering skills for new innovative solutions in HealthTech. You will be asked to bring in your expertise on software development and to support our teams in creating breakthrough innovations.

You are responsible for

  • Developing new software prototypes in innovative research projects to enable our breakthrough innovations;

  • Carry out consultancy and software development in the domain of data lifecycle management field e.g. data extraction, data cleansing, data transformation and data modelling;

  • Carry out consultancy and industrial research in system integration, enlarging relevant knowledge and bringing-in new knowledge that will enhance Philips informatics platforms;

  • Ensure proper use of standard API’s, foundational platform functionalities, cloud services and technologies in/for Philips Research projects (based on the HealthSuite solutions).

  • Keep abreast of technical, application and market developments in the relevant technological and industrial areas, showing interest in the business aspects;

  • Contribute to the definition of the departments research program;

  • Contribute pro-actively to a creative and inspiring working environment;

  • External exposure (for example by means of participation to conferences and scientific publications) and external collaborations (for example with universities or in the context of European research projects) are highly encouraged.

You are a part of

The Digital Platform Solutions department, who’s mission is to accelerate the creation of new digital propositions by providing deep knowledge and expertise on digital platforms, big data lifecycle management, software development, cloud and high performance computing (HPC).

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • A MSc/BSc in computer science, mathematics, physics or another relevant area in an advanced IT technology setting and minimal 5 years working experience

  • Excellent software development skills (Java and Python) as well as knowledge and experience with porting applications to the cloud;

  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) and Agile software development;

  • Good understanding of system integration concepts, platform strategies, cloud-based infrastructures and new IT technology fields;

  • Experience with cloud solutions such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or Google cloud is considered a pre;

  • Good understanding of the data lifecycle management and IT fields;

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong personal relationships at all levels (both internal and external to Philips Research) with customers, obtaining user needs and transform these into practical solutions;

  • Fast learner able to quickly pick up new areas.
